Maynooth University - Soccer Scholarships

What you get

You get a cash bursary (a one-off grant; the exact sum depends on your award level) to cover sport and study costs such as kit and travel to matches. This means you can spend less time on a part-time job. You also get expert training support: UEFA-qualified coaching, strength and conditioning, nutrition and sports psychology advice, medical and physiotherapy care, fitness and video analysis, free gym access and the high-performance team gym. First-year scholars can get priority on-campus accommodation (you still pay the normal rent) and up to 60 CAO points off the entry grades for their course. CAO points are the admissions score Irish students earn from their Leaving Certificate exam results. Men's soccer runs with League of Ireland club St Patrick's Athletic, giving a route towards the top flight. The award runs for 1 year. You can renew it each year if you keep up your studies, stay active in the university club and play for Maynooth in inter-varsity competitions. Maynooth University in Ireland gives the award.

Who can apply

• Playing standard: You play – or could certainly play – at a high level, for example at international level, in the League of Ireland or at inter-provincial level.

• Field of study: Any degree programme is suitable.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Your current club: You can be from any club or school; it doesn’t matter.

How to apply

Please complete the online application form by 1 April each year. For CAO applicants in their first year of study, the form will be made available in November. For students in subsequent years of study or on postgraduate programmes, the form will be made available on the first day of the September term. You will then have a brief interview with the admissions team and the football development officer.
