About this scholarship

Postgraduate Research Conference Presentation Grant

You get up to 500 EUR to help cover the cost of presenting your doctoral research at a conference. The grant contributes towards registration fees (ideally the early-bird rate), travel, accommodation for the conference plus one day either side, a conference dinner, local public transport and meals during the event. Online conference registration counts too. Summer schools and research lab visits can also be funded, but only if you present a paper or poster there. The money comes from the Graduate Studies Office at Dublin City University (DCU). The 500 EUR is a lifetime cap for your whole time as a research student, and you can split it over at most two applications.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You are a registered research student at DCU, full-time or part-time. The grant is mainly for doctoral students.
  • You must present: You present a paper or poster at the conference. Just attending is not funded. Your supervisor signs the form to confirm you are presenting.
  • Field of study: Open to all research fields.
  • Timing: The conference falls within your current academic year of registration. You apply before you submit your final hardbound thesis. You can apply after the event in the same academic year, but not for past years.
  • Other travel money first: If you hold an external scholarship that includes dedicated travel funds, you must use those first.
  • Previous grant: You cannot apply if you already used the full 500 EUR from the earlier Postgraduate Research Travel Grant. If you used only part of it, you can still apply up to the 500 EUR total.

How to apply

You email a completed application form to the Graduate Studies Office, signed by you and your supervisor. There is no fixed deadline. Applications are handled first come, first served from September to August, so apply before the yearly budget runs out.
