Maynooth University - Postgraduate Travel Fund & Collins Kitchin Fund

Benefit

You will receive a travel grant to take part in a research activity abroad. The amount depends on where you are travelling to: 400 EUR for the United Kingdom, 600 EUR for continental Europe, and 800 EUR for the USA or other countries. For events within Ireland, 300 EUR is awarded. The fund covers three types of activity: presenting a paper or poster at a conference, attending a module at another university, or taking part in a research workshop or summer school. You will need to pay the costs yourself initially and then apply for reimbursement after your trip, providing supporting documents. The fund is administered by the Graduate Research Academy at Maynooth University.

Eligibility

• Degree: You are enrolled in a research degree at Maynooth University: a Master by Research, a PhD, or a professional or practitioner doctorate.
• Supervisor: Your principal supervisor is based at Maynooth University. Students on a joint PhD programme are eligible to participate provided that Maynooth is the lead institution.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Funding: You may also apply if you already have research funding. Priority will be given to students without funding, or whose funding does not cover their research costs.
• Previous awards: You may receive funding on more than one occasion; however, priority is given to students who have not yet received any funding from the fund.

Please apply via an online form before your trip. You will need a letter of recommendation from your main supervisor, as well as details of the event. The next application deadline is Friday, 30 October 2026. You will be notified of the result within two weeks of the deadline.
