About this award / prize

Merit prizes for business students at LIUC

You will receive a one-off prize of 1,500 EUR if you are among the top economics students at the Università Carlo Cattaneo (LIUC) in Castellanza, Italy. In the 2024/2025 academic year, the university is awarding 59 of these prizes, with a total value of 88,500 EUR. Most are funded by LIUC, whilst six come from private donors. Some of the donor prizes are reserved for Master’s students.

Who can apply

  • Programme: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree (Laurea Triennale) or a Master’s degree (Laurea Magistrale) in Business Administration (Economia Aziendale) at LIUC.
  • On track: You are enrolled on a standard course of study (‘in corso’). You have never fallen behind (‘fuori corso’) at LIUC or at any other university, nor have you ever repeated an academic year.
  • No same-level degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level as the one you are currently aiming for.
  • Grades: Your weighted average is at least 27 out of 30.
  • Credits (from 2nd year on): By 30 September 2024 you have passed enough exams: 48 ECTS credits (2nd-year Bachelor's), 105 (3rd-year Bachelor's) or 52 (2nd-year Master's). First-year Master's students need their LIUC Bachelor's completed on time, or at least 165 credits.
  • Fees: Your tuition fees are up to date.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
  • No double funding: This funding cannot be combined with most other scholarships or fee reductions. There are, however, a few exceptions, such as mobility grants and the 10% sibling discount.

How to apply

You register online through the LIUC student portal, which opens in November. For the 2024/2025 round the deadline is 9 December 2024. The university ranks applicants on their extra credits and grade average, then publishes the results on its website within 40 days of the deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize is awarded on a highly selective basis: it is open exclusively to economics students at LIUC who are punctual and achieve an average of at least 27 out of 30. The pool of applicants is therefore limited to the university’s top students. As 59 prizes are awarded across the year groups, a well-qualified high-achiever has a strong chance of success. The ranking is based solely on credit points and marks; therefore, the surest way to succeed is to come out on top in exams and achieve a good average mark.
