About this scholarship

ER.GO scholarship (Emilia-Romagna, Italy)

For the academic year 433 EUR up to 7,171 EUR/2027, you will receive an annual cash grant of 433 EUR up to 7,171 EUR, which will be paid in three or four instalments. The amount depends on two factors: your family income (measured by the ISEE value, an Italian standard measure of household income and assets) and the distance between your home and the university. If you move away from home to study near your university, you will receive the highest rate. If you commute or live nearby, you will receive a lower amount. You can increase the amount by 15% if your ISEE is at or below 12,500 EUR, or by 20% if you are a female student studying a STEM subject. You can renew it every academic year, provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria. In addition to the cash grant, you will receive a full exemption from tuition fees as well as a refund of the regional tuition fee amounting to 140 EUR. The grant is provided by ER.GO, the regional student support agency for Emilia-Romagna.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at a university or a college of art or music (AFAM) in Emilia-Romagna, or you are about to enrol.
  • Degree level: Students enrolled on Bachelor’s, Master’s, single-cycle, PhD and specialisation programmes are eligible to apply.
  • Field of study: All compartments are open.
  • Nationality: Both Italian and international students are eligible to apply. Separate rules apply to stateless students and students with international protection status.
  • Financial need: Your family’s ISEE must not exceed 25,000 EUR. Your grades alone are not enough; you must also stay within this income limit.
  • Academic progress: You must complete a minimum number of credit points or examinations. The exact number depends on your year of study, your degree programme and your university.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the ‘Dossier Utente’ user portal on the ER.GO website. For 2026/2027, the application period begins on 23 June 2026 and ends on 24. August 2026 at 16:00. There will be no interview. ER.GO will decide on admission based on your income and academic details and will subsequently publish provisional and final ranking lists.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a needs-based regional scholarship with a substantial budget of over 160 million euros per year for scholarships and services. If you clearly meet the income and academic performance criteria, your chances are good. Please note that being classified as eligible does not always guarantee that funds will be paid out, as the final payment depends on the funds available. Apply early and ensure that your ISEE and enrolment details are correct.
