About this award / prize

What you get

The prize for the best dissertation is cash prize of 500 EUR, for second place 300 euros and for third place 200 euros, as well as a certificate. The prize recognises written works on holistic methods such as counselling, naturopathy, yoga, art therapy or bio-natural massage. It is awarded once a year by SIAF Italia, an Italian professional association for holistic therapists and counsellors.

Who can apply

  • Who: You are a student or researcher and have written a dissertation or academic paper.
  • Topic: Your work should focus on holistic approaches, such as counselling, coaching, naturopathy, yoga, family mediation or bio-natural massage. It must be an original piece of work and must not have been published previously.
  • Timing: You have submitted or defended your thesis in the last two years.
  • Where you studied: Any public or private organisation is eligible.
  • Age: You are at least 18.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. If your submission is not in Italian, please enclose an Italian translation with the original.
  • No conflict of interest: You are not related to any member of the jury.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted by email. Please attach your final dissertation, an abstract of no more than four pages, a Europass CV and your consent to the publication of your work on the SIAF website to your email. A jury will assess the entries and select the three winners, who will receive their prizes in person at a national SIAF event.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize is awarded to only a handful of winners. Their work must clearly fit within the SIAF’s overarching fields of expertise and be topical, meaning that only a few entries meet the criteria. As only three prizes are awarded each year, competition amongst suitable candidates is fierce, but a well-structured, original final-year project certainly stands a real chance. Students from the SIAF’s own training centres are allocated 20% of the reserved places on the shortlist.
