About this scholarship
What the housing allowance gives you
You will receive an annual grant of housing allowance to cover your rent whilst studying in the Aosta Valley. The amount depends on which of the two annual calls for applications you qualify for, based on your family’s income (as measured by the Italian ISEE indicator). The grant is paid by the Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley. You may combine this grant with the region’s main scholarship as well as with other scholarships. You must reapply for the grant each academic year.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at the University of the Aosta Valley or the Aosta Valley Institute of Music. Students on the Nursing degree programme at the University of Turin, based in Aosta, may only apply during the second application round.
- Field of study: Any topic is allowed.
- Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply. If you live abroad, your family’s financial situation will be assessed on the basis of the relevant income indicator for your home country.
- Financial need: Your family’s ISEE-Universitario (an official measure of household income and assets) must remain below the call for applications’ upper limit: up to 27,948.60 EUR plus an asset limit for the first round of applications, or up to 44,000 EUR for the second round of applications.
- Academic progress: You hold at least the minimum number of university credits (CFU) set for your year of study in that year's call. Only the number of credits counts, not your grades.
- Rented accommodation: You are renting a flat near the university for at least 9 months. The journey from your parents’ home to the flat by public transport must take at least 70 minutes, or there must be no public transport connection at all. You must provide evidence of this.
How to apply
Applications are made online via the regional scholarship portal. The call for applications opens around mid-October. The application deadline for the year 2025-2026 is 19 December 2025 at 12:00 noon. You may only apply for one of the two calls for applications.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is aimed at a limited target group. You must be studying at one of the educational institutions in the Aosta Valley, meet the income threshold and prove that your accommodation is too far from your place of residence to commute daily. This keeps the number of applicants small. If you clearly meet these conditions and can provide proof of your rent and the distance involved, your chances are good, especially as you can combine this grant with the standard student grant. Make sure you apply for the grant before the deadline in December, as applications are not automatically renewed.
