Scholarships at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice

For one academic year at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice (Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia), a state art college in Italy, you will receive approximately 850 EUR. The most important grant is the regional study grant, which is administered by ESU Venezia, the regional student finance agency. It is aimed at students who achieve good academic results but are unable to afford the costs of their studies without difficulty. The Academy also offers other paid opportunities. Under the cooperation scholarship scheme, you will receive remuneration for assisting with teaching or tutoring. Erasmus+ scholarships enable you to study or undertake training abroad for a specific period.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice this academic year.
• Field of study: You are studying an art or design subject at the Academy, such as painting, sculpture, decorative arts, printmaking, illustration, set design, costume design or new art technologies.
• Grades and progress: When awarding the regional scholarship, first-year students are assessed solely on the basis of their income. From the second year onwards, they must also have accumulated a sufficient number of academic credits (CFU, the Italian credit points awarded for passed examinations).
• Financial need: You must submit an ISEE certificate, which is an official Italian document certifying your family’s income and assets. A lower income improves your chances. If your income comes from abroad, you must apply for the relevant ‘ISEE Parificato’.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

To apply for the regional scholarship, you must apply online via the ESU Venezia student portal (Portale SOL). You will need to log in using a digital identity, such as SPID. Before you begin, please check the official call for applications (bando) for the exact deadline for your cycle.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is aimed exclusively at students who are already enrolled at a specific art college, so the pool of applicants is small. If you are studying there, can demonstrate genuine financial need based on your ISEE certificate, and continue to achieve satisfactory academic results after the first year, your chances are good. Make sure you prepare your ISEE certificate well in advance, as compiling the necessary documents is the biggest hurdle.
