Roberto Rocca Scholarship

You will receive a one-off payment of 2,800 EUR (gross, before tax) for one academic year on the Master’s degree programme in Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in Milan. This is a one-off lump sum, not a monthly scholarship. The company Dalmine S.p.A. (Tenaris Group) is funding the scholarship in memory of Dr Roberto Rocca, a graduate of the university. Thirteen scholarships will be awarded: six for first-year Master’s students and seven for second-year Master’s students. You may receive this scholarship alongside international mobility grants (for study periods abroad) and tuition fee waivers, but not alongside any other scholarship from the Politecnico or a public scholarship for the same academic year.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are enrolled in the 1 or 2 year of a Laurea Magistrale degree programme (Master’s programme) in engineering at the Politecnico di Milano.
• Field of study: Your degree programme falls within one of the following engineering disciplines: automation engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, materials science and nanotechnology, or mechanical engineering.
• Credits: First-year students have already earned at least 15 CFU (credit points); second-year students have earned at least 60 CFU.
• Grades: Your weighted average mark is at least 24 out of 30.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Please apply online (using the form at robertorocca.org) and attach your CV. The deadline for applications is the end of April. The selection process consists of two rounds: first, there is an online test of logical and linguistic comprehension, which is assessed alongside your CV to shortlist a small number of candidates; this is followed by an interview with the selection panel in Dalmine (Bergamo). The final ranking is based solely on the interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is highly selective. Applicants must be enrolled on a specific Master’s programme in engineering at a specific university and have a grade point average of at least 24/30, which means the pool of applicants is limited. With only 13 places available and a two-stage selection process (online test plus interview), a strong applicant who exceeds the grade threshold and performs well in the interview has good prospects. The interview at Dalmine is the deciding factor – so be prepared to present yourself well.
