About this award / prize
What the Vincenzo Porri study prize gives you
You will receive a one-off prize of 2,582.28 EUR. As withholding tax of 25% will be deducted, you will be left with a net amount of approximately 1,937 euros. Two prizes are awarded in each round. This is a one-off prize, not a monthly scholarship. It is awarded to economics students at the University of Turin who have passed key examinations and come from families on a limited income. The prize honours Vincenzo Porri, a professor of economics at the Turin School of Economics during the first half of the 20. century.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at the Scuola di Management ed Economia at the University of Turin.
- Degree level: There, you will be studying for a Bachelor’s degree (Laurea Triennale) or a Master’s degree (Magistrale/Specialistica).
- Exams passed: You have passed the microeconomics and macroeconomics exams, as well as at least one other economics exam.
- Financial situation: Your ‘ISEE Universitario’ is less than 46,000 euros per year. This is the official benchmark in Italy for your family’s income and assets.
- No high earnings: Since the start of the academic year, you have not exceeded the tax-free income threshold.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted by email with the subject line ‘Premio Prof. Vincenzo Porri’ by 12:00 on 30 October. A panel of professors will assess the applications. In the event of a tie between two applicants, the award will go to the applicant with the lower income (as evidenced by the ISEE Universitario).
How realistic are your chances?
The eligibility criteria are strictly defined: only economics students at a university in Turin who have passed the relevant exams and fall below the income threshold are eligible. The eligible group is small, and only two prizes are awarded per round. If you clearly meet these conditions, particularly if you have a low ISEE, your chances are good. Please note that the last public call for applications was on 2020; therefore, please check whether a new round is currently open before applying.
