About this grant / loan

What you get

You are paying for the no tuition fees for the first year of your Master's degree programme (second cycle) at the University of Bologna. The full enrolment fee is waived. You will only pay 157.04 euros for compulsory charges that cannot be waived: the regional tax, stamp duty and student insurance. The waiver is valid for one academic year and is based solely on your grades; there is therefore no means test and you do not need to submit any financial documents. You cannot combine this waiver with other merit-based benefits offered by the University of Bologna.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are enrolling on the first year of a Master’s degree programme (Laurea Magistrale) at the University of Bologna.

  • On time: You completed your Bachelor’s degree within the standard duration of study and without taking any extra years.
  • Grade: Your final mark for your Bachelor’s degree was 110/110, the highest mark in the Italian system.
  • Timing: You graduated in July 2026. If you have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare profession, the application deadline is 30 November 2026.
  • Field of study: All participants are suitable.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You do not need to submit an application. The exemption is granted automatically upon enrolment, provided you meet the requirements. If this is not the case, but you believe that you do meet the requirements, please contact your Enrolment Office (Segreteria Studenti).

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a selection process with a limited number of places. Any student who meets the criteria will be granted the exemption. The bar is set high, as you must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in the grade 110/110 at the University of Bologna within the specified timeframe. However, if you meet this requirement, you will automatically be granted the benefit. Your chances depend solely on your marks, not on how many others apply.
