Sapienza University of Rome (Rome/Italy) - Scholarship "Wanted the best"

Benefit

You will receive a one-off payment of 3,000 EUR if, after completing your bachelor’s degree at another Italian university, you commence a master’s degree at “La Sapienza” University in Rome. “La Sapienza” University will pay the amount in a single instalment as soon as you have been confirmed as a scholarship holder and have enrolled. This is a gross amount, so income tax (IRPEF/IRAP) will be deducted. For the 2026–27 intake, “La Sapienza” awards 100 of these scholarships to the top graduates.

Eligibility

• Your degree so far: You hold a ‘Laurea di primo livello’, a three-year Italian bachelor’s degree.
• Where you studied: You obtained your bachelor’s degree from an Italian university other than Sapienza.
• Grades: Your final mark for your Bachelor’s degree is between 105/110 and 110/110 cum laude, which means you are among the top performers on the Italian grading scale.
• What you do next: You are enrolling on a Master’s degree programme (laurea magistrale) at Sapienza for the academic year 2026–27.
• Field of study: Anyone can apply.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply, provided they hold a bachelor’s degree from an Italian university. If you obtained your degree from a foreign university, please apply instead via Sapienza’s separate ‘Don’t Miss Your Chance’ programme.

How to apply

The online application must be submitted by 30 October 2026 (23:59). This is a selection process based on academic merit: candidates will be ranked according to their Bachelor’s degree mark; there will be no interview. You must also enrol on your Master’s programme at Sapienza within the enrolment deadline applicable to the relevant degree programme.

How realistic are your chances?

The selection criteria are quite strict. Applicants must hold a first-class Bachelor’s degree from another Italian university and have secured a place on a Master’s programme at Sapienza, which keeps the pool of eligible candidates small. As 100 scholarships are available and selection is based solely on your final degree mark, a high-achieving graduate who clearly meets the mark threshold has good prospects. Apply in good time and enrol early, as you must meet both deadlines.
