What the Individuele Bestuursbeurs gives you

You get a fixed 395.40 EUR per month (rate for the 2026-2027 academic year) for serving on one of the student representation bodies at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). How many months you are paid depends on the body:

• 3 months: study committee (opleidingscommissie), faculty council (faculteitsraad) or the joint assembly (gemeenschappelijke vergadering).
• 5 months: a faculty council that also holds study-committee powers.
• 9 months: the university council (universiteitsraad).

If you also receive a supplementary grant (aanvullende beurs) from DUO, the Dutch student finance agency, you get a second monthly payment on top, equal to that DUO grant. The money comes from the university's student support fund. It compensates for the study delay these unpaid roles cause. You are normally paid in 2 instalments across the year, or 9 instalments if you sit on the university council.

Who can apply

• University: You are a student at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
• Your role: You are a member of one of these EUR bodies: a study committee, a faculty council, the university council, the joint assembly (Erasmus MC), or the board of the Erasmus Sport foundation.
• How long you serve: The months and amounts above apply if you hold the role for a full 12 months. Holding several roles at once still gives you at most 12 months of funding.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you study at EUR.

How to apply

Apply before 1 December of the academic year in which you hold the role. If you have questions, contact the representation body you sit on, or book an appointment with a student dean (studentendecaan).

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive scholarship but a fixed compensation. If you are an EUR student and hold one of the named roles, you are entitled to it. The only real hurdle is getting elected or appointed to the body in the first place, and then applying before the 1 December deadline. Meet those two conditions and the grant follows.
