Clinical Placement Grant (Radboud University)

You get a contribution towards a clinical placement abroad. A clinical placement is a supervised medical training period at a hospital or clinic. You receive 150 EUR per 4 weeks in Europe (up to 450 EUR) and 200 EUR per 4 weeks outside Europe (up to 600 EUR). The grant covers extra costs of going abroad, such as flights, visa, accommodation and vaccinations. Your placement must last 4 to 12 weeks. You get 75% as an advance within about 4 weeks of provisional approval, and the last 25% after you finish and hand in your final documents. The money comes from Radboud University's Profiling Fund.

Who can apply

• University: You are a registered full-time student at Radboud University.
• Field of study: You study medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, which must approve your placement.
• Where you go: Any country abroad works, inside or outside the EU/EEA. Only rule: your placement is outside the Netherlands.
• Credits: You earn course credits for the placement.
• Real costs: You have at least one of the covered expenses (tickets, visa, accommodation or vaccinations). Without such costs there is no grant.
• No double funding: In this study period you have not already received an Individual Travel Grant for a long stay, another clinical placement grant, or a Holland Scholarship.
• Timing: You still have more than 2 weeks until you leave.

How to apply

First start your stay-abroad application in your Osiris account so your faculty's International Office can give provisional approval. Applications open each year around May for the next academic year. You then get an email with a web form. After you submit it, you receive a Grant Agreement and Letter of Approval. Hand these in at least 2 weeks before you leave.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a fixed contribution for Radboud medical students going abroad, not a competitive award. You are not up against other applicants. If you meet the conditions, earn credits and have real travel costs, you can expect the grant. The main risks are missing the 2-week deadline or having already used another travel grant this study period.
