Saxion Top Talent Scholarship

In your first year of study, you will receive a one-off payment of 2,500 EUR. This will be deducted directly from your tuition fee invoice or refunded to you if you have already paid the fees. This is a partial grant, not a full scholarship. The funding is provided by Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Deventer, the Netherlands. You apply once and will automatically be considered for both this funding and the more comprehensive NL scholarship worth 5,000 EUR. You can only be selected for one of the two funding schemes.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are applying for a full-time bachelor’s degree programme at Saxion. Master’s degree programmes and associate degrees are excluded from this.
• Field of study: Any Bachelor’s degree programme at Saxion.
• Nationality: You are from a country outside the EU/EEA and will be required to pay the full tuition fees. Students from EU/EEA countries are not eligible to apply.
• Grades: Your average mark is 75% or higher, based on the transcript you are using for enrolment.
• English: You have an IELTS score of 6.0 or a recognised equivalent, such as TOEFL, TOEIC, Cambridge or Pearson. If no English language certificate is required for your degree programme, an IELTS score of 6.0 applies to you.
• First application: You are applying to Saxion for the first time and are not receiving any other scholarship for the same year and the same degree programme.
• Admission timing: You will be admitted to your degree programme by 1 May at the latest – at least subject to confirmation.
• Start date: Your degree course starts in September.

How to apply

First, apply for your degree programme. Then, between 1 November and 1 May, submit your scholarship application via the Saxion online portal. A personal statement is not required. A committee will assess all eligible applications and notify applicants of the result by email within 30 days of the deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

The number of scholarships is limited and the criteria are broad, as any non-EU/EEA applicant for a bachelor’s degree programme with a grade point average of 75% and an IELTS score of 6.0 is eligible. Competition is therefore fierce. If your grades are well above the threshold and you are admitted well before the deadline on 1 in May, your prospects will improve. With the same application, you are simultaneously applying for the more comprehensive NL scholarship, and you will initially be considered for the highest level of funding for which you qualify.
