About this scholarship
What you get
You will receive a tuition fee reduction of up to 35% off the MBA fee for the one-year full-time MBA at the TIAS School for Business and Society (formerly TiasNimbas) in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The total tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic year amount to 44,500 EUR, meaning that a grant of 35% is worth up to approximately 14,140 EUR. The university offers various scholarship programmes. At the heart of each programme is a short essay, which you must submit alongside your application:
- Future Leaders: An essay (max. 750 words) on the topic of leadership in a globalised world, drawing on your own experiences.
- Women in Business: for women only, with preference for applicants from developing countries; an essay (max. 1,000 words) on the role of gender in business.
- Business & Society: Preference will be given to applicants from developing countries; an essay (max. 1,000 words) on your commitment to social responsibility and your leadership qualities.
- Diversity: An essay (max. 1,000 words) about your identity, background, culture and values.
Who can apply
- Degree: You hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university.
- Programme: You are applying for the TIAS Full-time MBA, a programme in business and management at the TIAS campus in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
- Work experience: You have at least 3 years’ relevant full-time professional experience. The average for participants is around 7 to 8 years.
- Test scores: You must have a strong GMAT or GRE result, or, in some cases, the TIAS aptitude test instead.
- English: You have a very good command of English. If English is not your first language, this means you must have a TOEFL 90 or IELTS 6.5 score.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. In some programme areas, preference is given to applicants from developing countries, and the ‘Women in Business’ programme area is open exclusively to women.
How to apply
Applications are made via the TIAS online portal. The scholarship essay forms part of the same application, so there is no separate form. Once you have submitted your application, the Admissions Committee will invite you to an interview, which will take place on campus, via Microsoft Teams or by telephone. The decision regarding the scholarship will be made at the same time as your admission decision.
How realistic are your chances?
These scholarships are awarded exclusively to applicants who have been accepted onto a small MBA cohort of around 40 students; places are therefore limited and the bar for admission is already high. As the scholarship is linked to an essay and the committee assesses your overall profile, a well-suited applicant with solid professional experience and a compelling, concrete essay has a genuine chance of success. If you belong to one of the target groups, such as women in business or applicants from developing countries, the applicant pool is smaller and your chances increase.
