Emergency Student Fund of Universiteitsfonds Eindhoven

You receive a one-off cash gift to help you finish your studies at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) when a sudden event has left you in acute financial trouble. The amount is set for your case and is not meant to cover all your costs; the fund does not pay large sums. It is a gift, not a loan, so you do not pay it back. You are asked to donate to the fund later as a graduate, once you can afford it. The money comes from the university's foundation (UFe), which runs on donations.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled and actively studying at TU/e, with a realistic chance of finishing your degree. Newly admitted international students who have no funding or scholarship yet also qualify.
• Field of study: Any subject at TU/e.
• Nationality: Any nationality, including international students.
• The emergency: Your money trouble came from something sudden and unforeseeable, such as war, the political situation in your home country, or illness.
• One-off, not ongoing: The problem is a single event, not a recurring shortage, and one limited payment can solve it.
• No other help available: You cannot get support elsewhere, such as regular student finance, municipal aid, health insurance or a housing allowance.
• Financial need: You have little money of your own and could not finish your studies without this help.

How to apply

You cannot apply directly. Book an appointment with a TU/e student dean (studentendecaan), a staff member who advises and supports students. The dean assesses your situation, proposes an amount and submits the request with supporting documents to the UFe. An independent committee then decides within two weeks. There is no fixed deadline, so you can apply whenever the emergency arises.

How realistic are your chances?

This is emergency aid, not a regular scholarship, so it is judged case by case against strict conditions. The crisis must be sudden, one-off, and beyond help from any other source. If you clearly meet those tests and a student dean backs your case, your chances are good. The fund pays only while donations last and avoids large sums, so come with clear evidence of the emergency and of why no other support is open to you.
