Twente Emergency Fund for students

You get one-off financial help if a sudden crisis leaves you in serious money trouble while you study at the University of Twente. The amount is not published. It is set to fit your situation and paid once, not as a monthly grant. The money comes from the Universiteitsfonds Twente, an alumni foundation that started the fund in 2025 as a safety net so students hit by an emergency can keep studying. Donations from alumni, companies and staff feed the fund, with a 2026 fundraising target of 10,000 EUR.

Who can apply

• University: You study at the University of Twente.
• Situation: A sudden, unforeseen crisis has left you in urgent money trouble, for example war, illness or bad luck.
• Field of study: All subjects can apply.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply, including international students at the university.

How to apply

There is no public application form. If you are in financial trouble, contact your student dean at the University of Twente (Student Affairs, Coaching & Counselling). The dean reviews your case together with the foundation.

How realistic are your chances?

This is emergency help, not an open scholarship. You do not win it with strong grades or a polished application. It is for students already at the University of Twente who can show a genuine, unforeseen crisis and real financial need. If that fits you and you raise it with your student dean, support is realistic. Keep in mind the fund is small and meant only for acute cases.
