General Description
Disable students can be eligible for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSAs) to help them with extra costs because of their disability, long-term illness, specific learning difficulty or mental health condition. Both part-time and full-time students can apply. It includes maintenance loans, tuition fee loans and grants. The financial support includes non-medical helper's allowance that is up to £20,520 a year for full-time students and £15,390 a year for part-time students, specialist equipment allowance that values up to £5,161 for the whole course, DSAs for postgraduate study that value up to £10,260 for part-time and full-time students. There is General Disabled Student Allowance regarding other disabilities costs that value up to £1,293 for part-time students and £1,724 each year for full-time students. There will be also coverage for travel costs if incurred because of disability. You can apply through your Local Authority or via Student Support Direct website.
Requirements
Applicants must be eligible for the standard student support package to be able for eligibility of DSAs.
