About this scholarship
Hastings Senior Scholarship (The Queen's College, Oxford)
You will receive approximately 17,250 EUR (£15,000) as a contribution towards the tuition fees for a full-time Master’s programme at Queen’s College, which is part of the University of Oxford. The programme initially lasts one year. If you are studying for an MPhil (a two-year research-based Master’s programme), you may be re-selected for a second year subject to satisfactory academic performance, meaning that the funding can cover up to 24 months. The College awards one scholarship each year.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled on a postgraduate programme offered by Queen’s College, Oxford.
- Your bachelor's university: You completed your bachelor’s degree in Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, York or Bradford.
- Grades: You passed all the exams in your Bachelor’s degree with ‘First Class Honours’, the highest grade in the British grading system.
- Nationality: Open to applicants from the UK and abroad.
- Field of study: Any subject, as long as Queen’s University offers the course.
How to apply
First, apply for your Master’s programme via the University of Oxford. You should then email your CV to the College’s Admissions and Postgraduate Programme Officer by 12 noon (GMT) on 30 January 2026. The College will assess your CV alongside your application for the degree programme.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is granted to only a very small number of applicants. Only one scholarship is available, and you must have achieved a ‘Top First’ degree at one of the five universities listed in the Yorkshire region and have been offered a place on a degree programme at Queen’s College. This keeps the pool of eligible applicants small, meaning that a well-suited candidate will face limited competition. If you clearly meet all the requirements and apply by the deadline, your chances are good.
