Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco - IPCB Merit Awards

Benefit

You will receive a merit diploma, recognising you as one of the best students of the year at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) in Portugal, now known as the Universidade Politécnica de Castelo Branco. The award is presented once a year as part of the Institute’s anniversary celebrations in October. The rules do not provide for a cash prize. Some prizes are sponsored by partner companies, such as the Altice Labs Prize for students of information and communication technology.

Eligibility

You do not apply yourself. The Academic Services check student records and pick the winners, so you only need to meet the criteria.

• Where you study: You are enrolled at the IPCB in one of the six departments, which cover the fields of agriculture, applied arts, health, education, management and technology.
• Degree level: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree (Licenciatura) or a Master’s degree (Mestrado).
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines. An additional prize, the Altice Labs Prize, is reserved for information and communication technology and requires a minimum average mark of 15 out of 20.
• Grades: In the last academic year, you passed all the modules on your year group’s programme and achieved the highest weighted average mark amongst your fellow students.
• Extra categories: Separate prizes go to the top student born in Castelo Branco, the top working student, the top grant-holder and the top student-athlete across all schools.
• Nationality: All nationalities are welcome.

How to apply

No application needs to be submitted. Every year in mid-October, the institute selects the winners based on the information on file and publishes the list on its website; there is then a short period during which objections can be lodged. If you qualify for more than one category, you will only receive the highest prize, and the other will go to the next eligible student in the ranking.

If you are looking for additional funding options beyond this merit recognition, you will find further opportunities in our guide Scholarships in Portugal.
