Dr. Francisco Salgado Zenha Prize

You receive a 700 EUR cash prize for the best written work on human rights, humanitarian law or fundamental rights. The prize is awarded once a year by the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (FDUC), with the backing of the Francisco Salgado Zenha Foundation. It honours the lawyer Francisco Salgado Zenha (1923-1993), known for defending citizens' rights and freedoms. You can submit your work alone or as a group.

Who can apply

• University: You study at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra in Portugal.
• Study level: You are enrolled in a bachelor's or master's programme in Law or in Public-Private Administration.
• Your work: You submit a written piece on human rights, humanitarian law or fundamental rights.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Submit your written work to the Faculty of Law by 31 July 2026 for the 2025/2026 round. Read the competition rules on the prize page before you hand in your work.
