About this scholarship

Erasmus+ Mobility Grant (University of Aveiro)

Whilst studying at a partner university in another European country, you will receive a monthly grant. For a study period, you will receive 350 to 450 EUR per month. For an internship abroad, you will receive 500 to 600 EUR per month. A study period lasts up to 5 months for one semester or up to 9 months for two semesters. An internship lasts from 2 to 12 months, and you will receive remuneration for up to 4 months. The amount of the study grant depends on where you are going: 450 EUR for Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway or Sweden; 400 EUR for Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal or Spain; and 350 EUR for most countries in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. The grant helps with living and travel costs, but does not cover them in full. It is provided by the University of Aveiro (UA) as part of the EU’s Erasmus+ programme. Throughout your studies (Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD), you can spend up to 12 months abroad with Erasmus+. If, for example, you have fewer opportunities due to a disability or financial hardship, you can apply for an additional grant from the International Affairs Department.

  • University: You are enrolled at the University of Aveiro on a Bachelor’s (Licenciatura), Master’s or PhD programme, or on an advanced vocational course (CTeSP).

  • Credits: You have no more than 6 ECTS credits outstanding when you leave.
  • Fees: You have paid your tuition fees to the UA at least two months before your departure.
  • Language: You meet all the language requirements set by the host university.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities, provided you are enrolled at the UA.
  • Recent graduates: You can also apply for work placements in your final year of study, provided you complete the placement within 12 months of graduating.

How to apply

You submit a pre-application online through UA's PACO portal. For study mobility, the window is in January. Your department's Mobility Coordinator then selects candidates, and you apply directly to your chosen host university afterwards. Work-placement applications open separately in spring.
