Instituto Politécnico do Porto - IPP Merit Awards

IPP Merit Awards (Bolsas de Estudo por Mérito)

You receive a one-off cash award equal to five times the Portuguese monthly minimum wage, paid for one year. The exact sum rises with the minimum wage each year. Portugal's Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education funds the award. It goes to top-performing students at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (P.PORTO). It rewards academic results only and does not depend on your income.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto in Portugal.
• Study level: You are on a Bachelor (Licenciatura), Master (Mestrado) or professional higher technical course (TeSP).
• Grades: You passed every course unit in your study year. Your credit-weighted average is at least 16 out of 20 ("Muito Bom"). Credits from recognition of prior learning do not count.
• Field of study: All subjects are eligible.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Financial need: Not required. The award depends only on your results, whatever your income.

How to apply

You do not submit an application. The institute picks students automatically from their academic records and ranks them by their credit-weighted grade average. Portugal's higher education directorate (DGES) sets the number of awards each year and shares them out across P.PORTO's schools.
