Sapienza scholarships for specialisation schools

You will receive 6,715 EUR gross per year for the standard duration of your degree programme, which is usually 2 years. Sapienza University of Rome pays this amount to students at its non-medical faculties in three areas: Protection and Management of Cultural Heritage (Archaeology, Architecture and Landscape, Archives and Libraries, Anthropology, Musical Heritage, Natural and Territorial Heritage, Art History), Legal Professions, and Chemical Risk Assessment. You will receive the amount in two instalments per year: 60% upon enrolment and 40% after passing your end-of-year examinations. The amount is exempt from income tax.

Who can apply

• School: You are enrolled at one of the listed faculties of ‘La Sapienza’ University in Rome and have achieved a sufficiently high ranking on the admissions list.
• Field of study: Cultural heritage, the legal professions or chemical risk assessment. Separate national regulations apply to medical colleges.
• Income: Your personal gross annual income is no more than 7,750 EUR.
• No double funding: You have not yet received a grant under the same Act (Act 398/89) for another technical college.
• Nationality: Both Italian and international students are eligible to apply.

How to apply

No separate application is required. Sapienza awards the scholarships automatically based on the admission ranking for your degree programme. You simply need to be enrolled and have achieved a sufficiently high ranking. If you meet the criteria, you will receive an email and will need to sign a short form confirming your income and declaring that you are not receiving any other scholarship.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is very strictly targeted: you must already be enrolled at one of these specific faculties at Sapienza and have an income below the threshold of 7,750 EUR. For 2026/27, there were 23 annual scholarships distributed across the 9 faculties, with at least one guaranteed per faculty. If you perform well in the admissions process and meet the income threshold, your chances are good, as selection is based on the ranking list rather than a separate selection process.
