ELEC travel grant for summer courses abroad

You will receive a one-off grant of up to 500 EUR to attend a summer course abroad. The exact amount depends on the cost of the summer school. The money will be used to cover your travel expenses or the course fee. The grant is provided by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ELEC) at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland. ELEC awards up to four of these grants for the summer of 2026.

Who can apply

• University: You are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ELEC) at Aalto University.
• Grades: Your average mark is at least 2.0 on the Aalto scale.
• Study progress: You have earned at least 30 credit points. If you have been admitted directly onto a Master’s programme, you will need at least one full semester.
• Where you go: The summer course takes place abroad. Courses at Aalto University’s partner universities are given priority. Other summer schools may be funded on a case-by-case basis.
• Credit recognition: The credits you have earned will count towards your Aalto degree.
• Nationality: Open to students of all nationalities, provided they are studying at Aalto ELEC.
• No double funding: You will not receive any further funding from Aalto University for the same course, such as an Erasmus+ grant for a short-term stay.

How to apply

You apply by email to the ELEC outgoing office by 31 May. Send a short motivation letter with the course programme and a cost estimate. Also include confirmation from your programme's planning officer that the credits fit your degree. You need the acceptance letter from the host institution too, which you may hand in later. If there are more applicants than grants, ELEC decides based on your academic index (your grade-weighted study record).
