General Description

The Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung awards scholarships for German and foreign students in accordance with the guidelines issued by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt). The amount of these scholarships will be up to 897 euro monthly for a maximum of 42 months (the regular period of study plus one semester) except in the case of doctoral students, who will be receiving up to 1150 euro monthly for a maximum of two years, renewable for an additional year.

Requirements

Scholarships will be given to Bachelor´s degree, Diplom, Staatsexamen, Master´s degree or doctoral students enrolled in universities of the European Union and Switzerland (as a rule, Master´s degree and doctoral students will only be supported if they pursue their doctorate in Germany). Bachelor´s degree, Diplom and Staatsexamen students can only apply if they are German or educated in Germany; citizenship of the European Union is required for candidates applying to a Master´s degree. Applicants must have a knowledge of the German language equivalent to or higher than the B2 level according to the CEFR. Applications will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria: Very good school or college/university academic record, and social commitment and political interest.
