The Intel Shannon Women in Technology Scholarship Program is funded through Intel. It was established to boost the presence and participation of women in technology-related courses at undergraduate level. To be eligible for the award students must be enrolled in an approved computer science, technology, or engineering course at a partner university. It is open to school leavers as well as current students who have completed two years of a specific degree course. The award is worth €3,000 per year for the entire duration of the undergraduate programme. An Intel mentor is also assigned to the successful students. They are also offered a place on the Intel Shannon Workplace programme. This work placement can be in the form of a co-placement or a summer internship. It is mandatory for all programme participants.
Excellent academic performance is required in order to remain on the programme. This means students are expected to obtain 75% or equivalent in examinations. Applicants must be female and intend to complete their studies on or before June of the current academic year, and fall within the Leaving Certificate Year.
