The Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports offers grants for Spanish language assistants to go to other countries to teach Spanish. The purpose is to promote the dissemination of the Spanish language abroad, and increase understanding of foreign languages in Spain. The grants are paid in a monthly allowance. Accommodation, visa fees, and health insurance is covered by the grant. Award amounts vary by country. Recipients are responsible for their own travel costs. The length of the stay abroad is eight months. Possible host countries are in the European Union and the United States, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Between 16 and 20 hours a week fulfilling their duties are expected.
Candidates must have Spanish nationality. They must be enrolled in the final year of university or have other qualifications that prepare them for the position.
