Ministry of Education of P. R. China - Chinese Government Scholarship Program: Chinese language training

Benefit

This scholarship funds a Chinese language course at a university in China. It is offered by China's Ministry of Education and administered by the China Scholarship Council. The monthly living allowance is approximately EUR 170 (CNY 1,400) per month. A full scholarship also covers:

• All tuition, registration and basic learning-materials fees
• On-campus dormitory accommodation
• A one-off arrival subsidy for settling-in costs
• A one-off travel subsidy for the journey from your port of entry to your university
• Outpatient medical care and health insurance

A partial scholarship covers only some of these components and does not include the one-off subsidies.

Eligibility

• Nationality: Open to any non-Chinese citizen.
• Subject: Chinese language only; no other subjects are available under this programme.
• Qualification: You have completed secondary school (high-school diploma or equivalent).
• Age: You are 35 or younger.
• Health: You are in good health; a completed medical examination form is required at application.
• University choice: You may list up to three Chinese universities, chosen from the official Ministry of Education list of approved institutions.

How to apply

Apply through the Chinese embassy or another designated authority in your home country. The deadline is 30 April each year; applications open in January. Direct applications to the China Scholarship Council are not accepted. Results are typically announced in late July or early August.
