General Description

KU Leuven has scholarship arrangements with partner institutions in Europe, North America, Asia and South Africa. Each scholarship agreement has its own quota and budget. The scholarship programme is open to professors, postdoctoral researchers and PhD students from partner universities who wish to participate in an exchange. The exchange must be for at least 2 weeks and up to 1 month. The scholarship provides travelling expenses (EU participants: max € 500, non-EU participants: max € 1,000), as well as a per diem allowance of € 50 per day in the first month and € 30 per day from the second month on.

Requirements

PhD students with at least 2 years of research experience at their home university. The project should not already be receiving any funding through other programmes. PhD students must be from one of the Partner universities (EUROPE: Convenant with Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen (The Netherlands); NORTH AMERICA: University of Pennsylvania (USA), University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign (USA), Université de Montréal; ASIA: University of Kansai (Japan), Waseda University (Japan), Tsinghua University (China), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), East China Normal University (China); SOUTH AFRICA: Stellenbosch University, University of the Western Cape (Belville), University of Pretoria, University of the Freestate – Bloemfontein, University of Cape Town).
