Scholarship for the best degree thesis (Trafiktekniska föreningen)

You will receive a one-off cash prize of 50,000 SEK (about 4,450 EUR) and a certificate for the best final-year dissertation in the field of traffic and transport planning. The award will be presented at a ceremony during the association’s annual meeting (TF-dagarna), which usually takes place in April. It is awarded by the Swedish Association of Transport Planners (Trafiktekniska föreningen) in collaboration with the Structorstiftelsen Foundation. If you have written your thesis as a group, you may apply jointly.

Who can apply

• Your work: You wrote your dissertation in the field of traffic and transport planning.
• Level: Your final dissertation will be recognised as at least a Bachelor’s thesis (C-uppsats), worth at least 15 ECTS credits.
• Timing: You have completed the bulk of the work during the current calendar year, and your department has officially approved your thesis prior to submission.
• Where you study: You study at a Swedish university or university college.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at a Swedish higher education institution.

How to apply

You do not apply yourself. Your university department nominates one or two theses through the online form on the association's website. The deadline for theses finished during 2025 is 27 February 2026. If your department misses it, you can take part the following year. A jury then judges the submitted theses and explains its choice in writing.

How realistic are your chances?

As this is a single annual award in a very specialised field, competition is naturally fierce. Your chances depend less on whether you meet the basic criteria and more on whether your department nominates your work. If your dissertation stands out and your university puts it forward, you have a real chance of winning.
