Anna Whitlock Memorial Fund scholarship

You will receive a one-off grant of 50,000 to 100,000 SEK (about 6,500 EUR) for a full Master’s degree programme abroad in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, music or the arts. The grant is paid as a lump sum covering the entire duration of your studies and is not paid in monthly instalments. The Fund is a Swedish foundation that continues Anna Whitlock’s commitment to education. It also runs a separate programme for other post-secondary studies abroad (arts, music, natural sciences and technology), for which no fixed amount is specified.

Who can apply

• Level: You are undertaking a full Master’s degree programme abroad or another course of study abroad after leaving school.
• Field of study: Engineering, natural sciences, music and art only. For degree programmes undertaken after leaving school, design and teacher training are also eligible. The following are not eligible for funding: economics, law, psychology, business administration, media, communication, management, politics, language courses, final-year dissertations without enrolment, PhD programmes or work placements outside the degree programme.
• Where you go: You’re studying outside Sweden.
• Age: You can apply up to and including the year in which you turn 29.
• Study length: Your period of study must begin at least 3 months after the deadline and must not end before 1 December.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You can apply online using the Foundation’s form during one of the following two periods: 1 January to 1 March (23:59) or 1 July to 1 September (23:59). You can only apply for a Master’s programme abroad during the autumn intake. You will receive a response by email approximately four months after the application deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined: only a few specific subject areas are eligible; applicants must be under 29 years of age and studying abroad; and several popular degree subjects are excluded. As a result, the pool of applicants remains small. So, if you clearly meet the subject and age requirements and already have a firm offer of a place at university, your chances are good. Please submit all the necessary documents, as incomplete applications will not be processed.
