University of Skövde Diversity Scholarship

You get an award for the best thesis on the theme of diversity. The prize is handed over publicly at the University of Skövde graduation ceremony in the autumn. The University of Skövde (Högskolan i Skövde) in Sweden runs it once a year to highlight thesis work that exposes hidden structures, widens perspectives or drives real change. The sources name no cash amount, so treat this as recognition rather than a monthly grant.

Who can apply

• Where you studied: You wrote and passed your thesis at the University of Skövde.
• Level: Your thesis is at undergraduate level (at least specialisation level G2E) or master's level.
• Topic: Your thesis clearly focuses on diversity, linked to one or more grounds of discrimination: ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion or belief, age, or disability.
• Timing: You completed and passed your thesis in the previous spring or autumn semester. You can apply in the year you got your grade or the year after.
• How often: You can enter each thesis only once. If you wrote more than one thesis, you can submit more than one application.
• Nationality and age: No restrictions. Anyone can apply.

How to apply

Apply through the online form on the scholarship page, or send your documents to the university's student support office. The deadline is 9 October. Your application needs a motivation of up to 200 words, your full thesis, a 2 to 4 page summary, a transcript showing the thesis passed, and your supervisor's signed assessment.

How realistic are your chances?

Only theses examined at the University of Skövde in the last year, on a clear diversity theme, qualify, so the eligible group is small. If your thesis fits the topic well and your supervisor backs it, your prospects are good. Just one award is given each year, so an original, well-argued thesis with real-world impact stands out most.
