Adlerbert Scholarships at the University of Gothenburg

You receive a one-off payment of 15,000 SEK (about 1,300 EUR) if you study for a bachelor's or master's degree at the University of Gothenburg. You can apply for one of two types: a travel scholarship for a study-related trip, or a scholarship towards your living costs while you study. Travel applications get the money first. Four Adlerbert foundations fund the scholarships, and the university's scholarship committee decides who gets them.

For the travel scholarship, your trip must start on or after 1 January 2026 and finish before the autumn semester of 2027 begins. Trips to Gothenburg or to any place within 50 km of it are not funded. The living-costs scholarship covers the year from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. You can receive at most two Adlerbert scholarships in total across your bachelor's and master's studies.

Who can apply

• University: You study at the University of Gothenburg at bachelor's or master's level.
• Credits so far: You have completed at least 30 credits (ECTS) at the University of Gothenburg.
• Current enrolment: You are registered for at least 30 credits during the scholarship year (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027).
• Field of study: Any subject is fine.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you study at the University of Gothenburg.

How to apply

You apply online through the university's scholarship system between 24 August and 14 September 2026. Late applications are not considered. For a travel scholarship, you state your destination, dates, purpose and a cost breakdown. For the living-costs scholarship you do not need to explain anything. All applicants get the result by email at the end of October 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is open to many students at one university, but the selection is mechanical, not a contest of merit. Applicants are ranked by how many credits they have at Gothenburg, and study-related travel abroad is funded first. If you already have plenty of credits and are planning a trip abroad for your studies, your prospects are good. A living-costs application only gets money if funds are left over after the travel grants, so it is the harder route.
