ARUA Scholarship at Lund University

You get a tuition-fee waiver covering up to 90% of your fees for an international degree programme at Lund University in Sweden. The exact share depends on the budget of your programme and faculty. You still have to pay for your living costs yourself, as the Swedish immigration authority requires. Lund University gives this award to strong students from universities in the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA).

Who can apply

• Home university: You study, or studied, at an ARUA member university. These are named universities in Ethiopia, DR Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.
• Nationality: You are a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland, so you have to pay tuition fees at Lund University.
• Admission application: You have sent a complete, on-time application for an international degree programme at Lund University.
• First choice: You have listed Lund University as your first choice on universityadmissions.se.
• Grades: The award goes to students with strong academic results. Your financial situation does not count.
• Field of study: Any international degree programme at the university is open to you.

How to apply

First apply for a degree programme through universityadmissions.se by 15 January, with Lund University as your first choice, and pay the application fee by early February. The scholarship round then opens in early February. Eligible applicants get an email with a link to Lund's separate scholarship portal. There you submit the form and a short motivation video (max. 1 minute) explaining why you fit the programme. Results come by email shortly after the admission decision.

How realistic are your chances?

The award is cut narrowly: you must come from a specific list of ARUA universities, pay fees as a non-EU/EEA citizen, and rank Lund first. That keeps the eligible pool small. Selection is purely merit-based, so strong grades and a clear, convincing motivation video decide it. If you clearly fit those conditions and make Lund your genuine first choice, your prospects are solid.
