What the BTH scholarship covers

At the Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) in Karlskrona, Sweden, you will receive a partial reduction of your tuition fees. In previous rounds, this covered 50% or 75% of the fees. It simply reduces the amount you are charged for tuition fees. No cash is paid out, and your living costs are not covered. BTH awards these grants every year to students from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who would otherwise have to pay the full tuition fees. There are two categories: one for new applicants and one for students already enrolled.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a national of a country outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland and must therefore pay tuition fees to study at a Swedish higher education institution.
• Programme: You are applying for a degree programme offered on the BTH campus (or are already studying there). Distance learners and online students cannot apply.
• Level: The version for new applicants is aimed at Master’s applicants who list BTH as their first choice.
• Fee status: You must actually owe tuition fees. If you are exempt from paying them, you cannot apply.
• Field of study: All compartments are open.
• Selection: Scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic results. Work experience and financial circumstances are not taken into account.

How to apply

First, apply for your Master’s programme at BTH via universityadmissions.se by 15 January, specifying BTH as your first choice. In early February, eligible applicants will receive an email containing a link to the scholarship form (please check your spam folder). Complete this form by the deadline specified in the email. BTH will notify scholarship recipients by email in mid-March. If you receive an invoice for the full fee, you have not been selected.

How realistic are your chances?

Selection is based solely on academic grades, and applicants are ranked within each degree programme. Your chances depend on how well you perform compared to other applicants for the same degree programme. Degree programmes with more suitable applicants receive more scholarships, but each scholarship covers only a limited number of places. If your marks are outstanding and you stand out clearly from the other applicants on your degree programme, your prospects are good. Average marks are not sufficient.
