About this scholarship

The Bertebos Foundation Scholarship

You will receive funding for your studies or research in the fields of nutrition, agriculture, animal health or ecology at a college or university in Sweden or abroad. There is no fixed amount. You specify the amount required in your application, and the committee will decide on it. The funding may also cover travel and practical expenses, particularly for research projects relating to the Swedish region of Halland. The Bertebos Foundation, which was established in 1994 by Olof and Brita Stenström, supports education and research in the food sector.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are studying or conducting research at a college or university.
  • Field of study: Your area of expertise is nutrition, agriculture, animal health or ecology.
  • Nationality: You are a Swedish citizen.
  • Residence: You live in Sweden.
  • Where you study: Your university may be in Sweden or abroad.
  • Who applies: You are applying as an individual, not as an organisation.

How to apply

Please complete the Foundation’s application form and submit it by email, together with your supporting documents. For research or development projects, please include a project description of up to five pages and a brief CV. No project description is required for smaller grants, such as travel allowances. The deadline for submissions is 31 October each year. The Board reviews the applications in November and December.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant scheme is very narrowly defined. You must be a Swedish citizen, live in Sweden and work in one of four specific sectors, so the pool of eligible applicants is small. As you set the amount of the grant yourself, a clear, well-defined project with a realistic budget is more important than a large sum. If you meet these criteria and submit a well-reasoned application, your chances are good.
