University of Borås Scholarship

You get a reduction of at least 75% of your tuition fee for a master's programme at the University of Borås in Sweden. This is a fee waiver, not a cash payment: the university simply cuts your tuition bill by that share. It runs for the full length of your programme, so two semesters for a one-year master's and four for a two-year master's. If you are admitted to a two-year programme and pass 60 credits in your first year, the waiver rises by another 10 percentage points (at least 85%) for the second year. It does not cover living costs.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are admitted to one of the eligible master's programmes at the University of Borås, for example in textile management, fashion marketing, informatics, information science or resource recovery.
• Level: You apply for a master's programme, not a bachelor's or an artistic programme.
• Nationality: You are from a country outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, so you have to pay tuition fees. If you are exempt from fees (for example EU citizens or holders of a permanent Swedish residence permit), you cannot get this scholarship.
• Start date: You start in the autumn semester. There are no scholarships for the spring semester.
• Grades: You have a strong academic record.
• Fit: Your background matches the university's priority teaching and research subjects.

How to apply

You apply through the form on the university's website. The application opens on 1 December for the following autumn semester. It closes on the same date as the supporting-documents deadline for the national master's admission round. Selection is based on your study record and how well your background fits the university's priority subjects. Results are published in March.

How realistic are your chances?

The number of scholarships is limited and open only to fee-paying master's applicants in specific programmes, so the field is narrower than for broad, cash-based awards. If you clearly meet the requirements, hold strong grades and your background lines up with the priority subjects, your prospects are reasonable. Make sure you apply to one of the listed programmes and submit your documents on time.
