Uppsala University Global Scholarship

You get your full tuition fee covered for an international Master's programme at Uppsala University in Sweden. The scholarship is funded by the Swedish Council for Higher Education, the government agency for higher education in Sweden. It is aimed at strong students from outside Europe. It does not cover your living costs, so you still need to pay for your own accommodation and daily expenses.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland, which means you have to pay tuition fees in Sweden.
• Level: You are applying for an international Master's programme at Uppsala University.
• First choice: You rank the Uppsala Master's programme as your first choice among the four options at universityadmissions.se.
• Admission: You meet all entry requirements for that programme. You have submitted a complete application, with the fee and all documents, before the University Admissions deadline.
• Grades: You have strong academic results. Selection is based on merit alone; your financial situation plays no role.
• Eligible programme: A few joint or Nordic Master's programmes cannot be funded, so check that yours is not on the exclusion list.

How to apply

First apply for your Master's programme at universityadmissions.se and rank Uppsala as your first choice. You then receive an eight-digit application number. Next, submit the separate online scholarship form during the application window. Include a motivation letter of up to 350 words. There is no application fee. The round for autumn 2027 is expected to open in early 2027.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is open to all non-EU/EEA applicants in every subject, so it draws a very large field. The university states that only about 2% of applicants receive a scholarship. Selection is based on academic merit alone, so strong grades and a focused motivation letter are what set you apart. Make sure your programme application is complete, on time and ranked first, since a late or lower-ranked choice rules you out before your merit is even assessed.
