Örebro University Scholarship

You will receive your full tuition fees covered for a Master’s programme at Örebro University in Sweden. For a two-year Master’s programme, the scholarship covers your first year (autumn and spring semesters). It may be extended to the second year if you earn at least 22.5 credit points in the first semester. The university awards this scholarship to fee-paying international students and generally supports between 4 and 5 students per year. As no funding is provided for living costs, you will need to pay for your rent, food and day-to-day expenses yourself.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are a newly admitted Master’s student. Students who are already in their second year of study are not eligible to apply.
• Admission: You have been definitively admitted to a Master’s programme via Universityadmissions.se, with Örebro University as your first choice. Students who have been conditionally admitted or are on the waiting list are not eligible to apply.
• Field of study: Open to all international Master’s programmes at Örebro University.
• Nationality: You are a national of a country outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, and are required to pay tuition fees.
• Application fee: You have paid your application fee.
• No double funding: You will not receive a scholarship from the Swedish Institute.
• Financial need: This is not a selection criterion. Selection is based on your grades, your motivation and your commitment to studying in Örebro, not on your financial situation.

How to apply

Once you have been admitted, the university will email the application form to all eligible students. You must submit a personal statement, a CV and proof of your academic achievements to date as a single PDF file by the deadline of 9 April, 12:00 CEST. The results will be announced in May; only successful applicants will be notified.

How realistic are your chances?

The university itself describes this programme as highly competitive, and as only 4 to 5 scholarships are usually awarded each year, competition is fierce. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition fees and is open to all Master’s applicants from non-EU countries, meaning that many strong candidates are competing for the few places available. Your grades and a compelling personal statement will make the difference – so make sure you put a lot of effort into preparing a carefully crafted application. Have a Plan B ready to fund your studies and living costs in case you are not selected.
