Södertörn University tuition fee waiver

For a one- or two-year Master’s programme at Södertörn University near Stockholm, Sweden, you will receive 90% of your tuition fees waived. You will have to pay the remaining 10% yourself and cover your own living costs. You should budget for at least around 12,000 SEK per month (approximately 1,050 EUR) for your living expenses. The university grants exemption for the first year. To retain this exemption for a second year, you must meet the entry requirements for the next semester and, if necessary, reapply.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are applying for a one- or two-year Master’s degree programme. Bachelor’s degree programmes, part-time programmes and distance-learning programmes will not be considered.
• Nationality: You are a national of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland, so you are required to pay tuition fees in Sweden.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Application route: You have applied via UniversityAdmissions.se and listed Södertörn University as your first choice.
• No prior Swedish degree: You have not yet obtained a degree from a Swedish higher education institution and are not currently enrolled at one.
• Grades: Selection is based on your academic performance, so good marks from your previous studies will be an advantage.

How to apply

Please apply in accordance with the instructions on the university’s website. Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered. A selection panel will assess applicants on the basis of their academic achievements and the certificates submitted. The results will be announced in April. If you are selected, you must accept the scholarship within two weeks.

How realistic are your chances?

This exemption applies only to fee-paying Master’s students who have listed Södertörn as their first choice; consequently, the pool of eligible applicants is quite small. Selection is based solely on academic merit, so applicants can stand out from the crowd by achieving good grades and submitting a strong academic transcript. If you clearly meet the requirements and submit your complete application by the deadline, your chances are good.
