About this scholarship
Peter and Emma Thomsen's Scholarship
You will receive 7,500 DKK per month (about 1,005 EUR), which amounts to a total of 90,000 DKK per year (approximately 12,060 EUR). The money is paid out at the start of each semester and will continue to be paid for the duration of your studies. You must submit a brief progress report every six months. Payments will cease as soon as you have completed your examination, or earlier if the Board so decides. You may also receive Danish SU student grants (not loans) at the same time. The fund was established in 1951 by Peter and Emma Thomsen, a childless couple, to help talented students who cannot afford to study.
Who can apply
- Gender: You are a male pupil.
- Nationality and origin: You are a Danish citizen or a Swedish citizen from Landskrona.
- Where you study: You are studying at a university in Denmark, at Lund University in Sweden, at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), at a Danish music conservatoire, at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, at the Royal Theatre’s drama school, or at a university of teacher education. At Copenhagen Business School (CBS), only degree programmes in business administration or project management are recognised.
- Level: You have passed your upper secondary school-leaving exam (studentereksamen) or equivalent and are enrolled as a student.
- Field of study: Every subject at these institutions is fine.
- Financial need: You need support to be able to study.
- Where you go: You are studying in Denmark, not abroad. The committee may, under certain circumstances, allow you to continue receiving the scholarship for a single semester abroad; this is decided on a case-by-case basis. No funding is available for a study period in the USA.
