Evensonska Foundation scholarship (University of Gothenburg)

You get a scholarship to study at the University of Gothenburg if you have a connection to Värmland, a region in western Sweden. The exact amount is not published. Each year the foundation shares out the returns from its assets of about 4.9 million SEK (roughly 440,000 EUR) among one or more students. You can receive the scholarship up to three times. The University of Gothenburg runs it and awards it once a year in the autumn.

Who can apply

• University: You study at the University of Gothenburg.
• Connection to Värmland: You have a link to the Värmland region, for example your place of birth, where you live, or where you studied. Students from Glava parish get priority.
• Age: You are under 30.
• Study progress: You have already studied for one year in the subject you are applying for.
• Your field (pick at least one): You plan to serve in the Church of Sweden as a priest, deacon or church musician; OR you plan to become a school teacher in a modern European language other than English (German is preferred); OR you are a doctoral student in gastroenterology (research on Crohn's disease is preferred); OR you are a doctoral student in medical kidney diseases.

How to apply

You apply through the University of Gothenburg's scholarship system. In your application you prove your connection to Värmland, for example with a personal certificate or school-leaving certificate, and explain why you are suited to the studies you have chosen. The application window runs from 1 October to 2 November 2026. The relevant faculty board makes the decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut very narrowly. You must link to Värmland, study at Gothenburg, be under 30 and fit one of four specific fields. The eligible group is small, so few people compete for it. If you clearly meet those conditions and can document your Värmland connection, your prospects are good. Students from Glava parish have an extra edge.
