About this award / prize

Benefit

For achieving by far the highest mark in the third-year design project on the Chemical Engineering degree programme at the University of Birmingham, you will receive a one-off prize of about 184 EUR. As part of this project, entitled ‘Chemical Engineering Design’, you are required to plan and carry out a complete engineering design task. The prize is sponsored by the Institution of Plant Engineers and awarded by the University’s Department of Chemical Engineering. It is a one-off payment, not a recurring monthly grant.

Eligibility

  • University: You are studying at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
  • Study year: You are in your third year of the BEng or MEng degree programme in Chemical Engineering.
  • Grades: You achieved the highest mark in your year group in the third-year design project.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

No application is required. The prize is automatically awarded to the student with the highest mark in the third-year design project.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one student is awarded the prize each year: the one who performs best on a specific project. You cannot apply for it; you have to earn it through your results. Your chances depend on how you perform in this particular module compared to the other students in your year group. The student who achieves the highest mark in the design project within their year group receives the prize.
