About this award / prize

Eva Grunwald Memorial Prize

You will receive a book prize worth about 35 EUR (£30). This is a one-off award, not a monthly scholarship. The Department of French at University College London (UCL) awards this prize in recognition of outstanding undergraduate students who are studying French as a minor subject.

Who can apply

  • University: You are a Bachelor’s student at UCL.
  • How much French you study: French accounts for less than half of your degree programme, amounting to 1.5 credit points or fewer in a single academic year. This is suitable for students who combine French with another subject or a minor, or who study French in a different department.
  • Field of study: Your main subject can be anything at all, as long as French makes up only a small part of it.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
  • Results: You’re doing a brilliant job in your French lessons. The department will select the highest-achieving pupil who is eligible to take part.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a small departmental award, not a scholarship, for which you do not need to apply. The Department of French simply selects the best eligible student, so there is no need to submit an application. The pool of eligible students is small, as it is limited to UCL undergraduates studying French as a minor. If you are among the top students in this group, you have a real chance of being selected.
