What Halls Life offers

Halls Life (also called Residence Life) gives you free peer support and free events while you live in University of Birmingham accommodation. Peer support means help from trained student staff who have lived in halls themselves. They run activities and offer one-to-one wellbeing chats. The Guild of Students runs the programme with the University of Birmingham.

What you get:

• Someone to talk to: student staff who can help with homesickness, living with new flatmates and general wellbeing.
• Free events: free, alcohol-free activities in your accommodation, from open-air cinema to crafting sessions and wellbeing cafes, starting in Welcome Week.
• A drop-in office: the team's office on the Vale campus opens 4pm to 8pm on weekdays during term time. Staff can also visit your flat.

This is a support and community programme, not a cash scholarship. There is no monthly payment and no reduced rent.

Who it is for

• Where you live: You live in University of Birmingham or partner student accommodation, such as The Vale, Selly Oak, Pritchatts Park, or partner blocks like Battery Park and Metalworks.
• What you study: Any student in these accommodation sites can join, whatever your subject or year.

How to apply

You do not apply for this. Drop in to the office on the Vale during term-time opening hours, or use the contact details to arrange a flat visit or an appointment.

How realistic are your chances?

There is no selection. If you live in one of the covered accommodation sites, the support and events are open to you straight away.
