About this scholarship

Benefit

You get a yearly cash award plus a full sports-support package while you study and compete for the University of Wolverhampton. The amount comes in three tiers, based on your level: Gold: 1,000 GBP (about 1,150 EUR) for senior international athletes, Silver: 500 GBP (about 575 EUR) for national-level athletes, and Bronze: 250 GBP (about 290 EUR) for high regional-level athletes. Every tier also includes gym membership, BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) membership, strength and conditioning training, physiotherapy, sport psychology, lifestyle support, workshops and team kit. The University of Wolverhampton runs the scheme so you can train at a high level and finish your degree at the same time.

Eligibility

  • Where you study: You are enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree at the University of Wolverhampton for the 2026/27 academic year.
  • Your sport: You compete in a sport that is part of the BUCS, Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth programme.
  • Your level: You compete at a high regional (Bronze), national (Silver) or senior international (Gold) standard, and you can prove it.
  • Subject: Any subject is fine.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you study at Wolverhampton.

How to apply

Apply through the online form on the university's website. The deadline for 2026/27 is Sunday, 4 October 2026. A panel judges each application on its own and decides which tier, if any, you are offered.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is tied to one university and to proven competitive standard, so few people qualify. If you already compete at regional level or higher in an eligible sport and can evidence it, your prospects are good, especially for the Bronze tier. The higher tiers need real national or international results, so match your claim to the standard you have actually reached.
