Alumni Discount at the University of Glasgow

You will be awarded a 15% cut on your tuition fees if you have previously studied at the University of Glasgow and are returning in the academic year 2027/28 to undertake a taught Master’s programme or a research degree. This is a reduction on your tuition fees, not a cash payment. It applies for the entire duration of your studies. The University offers this discount to its returning graduates.

Who can apply

• Your past study: You graduated from the University of Glasgow or undertook a study abroad programme, an international summer school or an Erasmus exchange there. You are not eligible to apply if you completed your studies exclusively through an external institution or as part of a joint or associated degree programme.
• Your new programme: You are enrolling on a full-time or part-time Master’s programme (teaching-oriented) or a research programme at postgraduate level.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects on eligible Master’s and research degree programmes.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Who pays: You are funding your studies yourself. If an external sponsor covers your tuition fees in full, the discount will no longer apply.
• Combining: You can receive most other university grants in addition to this, but not a partnership discount or a grant that covers 100% of your fees.
• Programmes that do not count: Degree and certificate programmes, continuing professional development (CPD) and postgraduate diploma (PGDE) courses, international Master’s programmes and Erasmus Mundus programmes, as well as online or distance-learning programmes.

How to apply

No separate application is required. The discount is applied automatically when you register and log in.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a means-tested grant. If you are a graduate of the University of Glasgow, pay your own tuition fees and enrol on an eligible Master’s or research programme, you will automatically receive the 15% supplement. The only grounds for exclusion are an ineligible degree programme or full funding from an external source. You should therefore check before enrolment that your degree programme is not on the exclusion list.
