About this grant / loan
Ladyman Bequest
You will receive a grant to cover the cost of a chamber music course, such as those attended during the semester break, to play in a small ensemble. The exact amount is not being disclosed. The money comes from a bequest – that is, a donation left in a will – and is administered by the Department of Music at the University of Bristol.
Who can apply
- University: You are currently a student at the University of Bristol.
- Field of study: You are studying music, either as a stand-alone degree programme or as one of the two specialisations in a dual degree programme.
- Level: You may be on either an undergraduate or a postgraduate programme.
- Ensemble playing: You already play in an ensemble and would like to take part in a chamber music course.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
How to apply
There is no application form. You should contact the Head of the Department of Music at the University of Bristol directly and apply for the scholarship there. The application deadline is 31 May.
How realistic are your chances?
The entry requirements are quite strict: you must already be studying music in Bristol and playing in an ensemble, so only a few students meet the criteria. If you do meet these criteria and simply contact the head of department, your chances are good, as the department encourages practising musicians to take part.
